Thrift Store Finds! My Selfish Black Friday Story.

If you've read this post or this post or this post # 44-45 then you know that I love going to garage sales and thrift stores.

This weekend, I took advantage of my sister's Super Saver card... and we went to Goodwill, a random thrift store and Value Village.  With 50% off of most things, I got some SWEET deals!

Here are just a few...

I didn't "need" a colander, but this one is enameled and so pretty.  And for $2.99... couldn't beat it.

I'm always stealing Jason's flannels to run outside and check on the chickens or fill the boiler, but I secretly want my own.  When I saw this Pendleton Knockabout, I couldn't resist.  I can't figure out what year it is, but is was $6.50.  How can you beat that price?  And it is in perfect condition!

We've cleaned out a bunch of our coffee cups and tried to narrow them down to ones we really love.  When I saw these, I knew they would fit perfectly in our collection.  These matching cups are made by Kings Pottery in NC, and they are in excellent condition!  Perfect for sipping homemade hot buttered rum with my hubby on a cold night.  $1.99 each

Jason would choose a pie over a cake any day.  This is a pie plate made by Bob Mays in 1986... He is a potter from West Virginia.  Such a cool piece.  Pottery meets a fancy quilt. $2.00

Okay, some of you all might not feel okay about purchasing workout clothing from a second hand store.  But I have no qualms.  If it looks clean and is in good shape, it's fair game.  Each pair of Nike Dri-fit running capris were $3.50, and they are all (3 pairs) in great shape!  I feel so fancy.  I was in desperate need of running bottoms, but had not been able to work up the nerve to drop $30+ on a good quality pair.

Also not shown were two pairs of running skirts.  A grey and neon green Champion skirt and a navy and white Brooks running skirt.  They were each $1.50.  How could I pass that up?  I couldn't!  For less than one pair would cost, I found FIVE running bottoms!

I don't know where these glass trivet/cutting boards are from, but they match my kitchen so well!  $2.00 for the set.  Had to have them!

So, my Black Friday was spent in thrift stores.  I got awesome deals on jeans and jackets for all the kids and a few skirts and dresses for Leilee.  I also got her a stuffed turtle and a purse she didn't need at all, but that's the price I pay when my kids go thrift shopping with me.

I found a beautiful golden curlicue Christmas tree to use in my jewelry display for the Holiday Bazaar next weekend.  Perfect timing!

Shopping for our household on Black Friday is totally out of my norm... I usually avoid shopping this weekend at all costs.  I'm still waiting patiently for Cyber Monday or the last minute to get my Christmas shopping done.  Wink!

  1. Great finds! I love that coat, it reminds me (in a good way!) of something my grandma would have worn.

  3. Those are some amazing deals!! I need to check out thrift stores for workout clothes-it's painful for me to drop big money on workout gear. And I love those mugs!

    1. I couldn't believe the workout gear! It is definitely hit or miss, especially when my thrifting is limited to our small town stores. In the "big city", I seem to find much better deals and selection. It's painful for me to drop big money on almost anything... except running shoes. I hardly think twice.
