What's in Your Purse?

Image
I saw a "What's in Your Purse?" challenge/contest entry opportunity on my sister's blog yesterday.  And of course, I missed the deadline, but I thought I would do this anyway.  My purse weighs exactly 6 pounds and holds a ridiculous amount of stuff.  Mostly junk that I need to throw away.  This may be part of the reason that I visit the chiropractor quite a bit. I am also questioning my sanity today, specifically in reference to my tendency to hoard.  Looking at the guts of a bunch of other women's purses (including busy moms) did not make me feel any better.  Mine far outweighs (haha) them all. If you really want to see all my junk, here is your chance to take a peek.  Please don't tell anyone.  Starting with the Nine West Purse: A pair of my new favorite earrings that I made a few months ago Costco coupons for now (expired yesterday) and later (next two weeks) Scentsy catalog from a work party last week, with my pending list Env...

Windshield Wipers

I have come to the conclusion that I need new windshield wipers.  Not the most romantic or exciting thing to buy.  But, I don't think wipers are supposed to look frayed at each end.  I also don't like looking through a Vaseline-type haze everytime I turn them on.  Of course, once it stops raining, I will forget that I need them.  I spend about two hours on the road everyday, and I live in a rainforest.  You would think that would help me remember!  But I am somewhat like Doug... Hopefully blogging this boring observation will help me remember.  Squirrel!

Out of a Far Country

Out of a Far Country by Christopher and Angela Yuan is the story of a gay man's journey to God from his personal experience and the perspective of his mother.  During the course of the story, both Angela and Christopher are saved, although his journey is much longer and more painful.  I had to remind myself while reading the story that it took place in the 90's which was the height of the HIV/AIDs scare and a time when gays and lesbians were often shunned by their families.  Adding the strong, Chinese culture that the Yuans were from made everything even more intense and painful.  Both Christopher and Angela write clearly and honestly.  I was hesitant to request this book because I still feel like homosexuality is such a hot topic these days.  As a rule, I avoid those kinds of topics.  But, I really wanted to read a story that spoke of redemption, against so many odds.  Not only did Christopher live a very promiscuous lifestyle, ...

Stuck

I just received the entire dvd-based study kit of Stuck by Jennie Allen.  It was perfect timing (it seems it always is lately) for me.  I cried through the first two videos, and I finally had to stop and just look through the leader's guide and the study booklet.  The whole kit comes in this great, sturdy box, which includes a DVD, study guide, leader's guide, and conversation cards.  The guides are a great size, small enough to fit in your purse and pack around all the time.  It's an eight week study, designed for a small group, but flexible enough to be completed with almost any size of group.  The topics over the eight weeks are stuck, broken, mad, discontent, scared, overwhelmed, sad, and unstuck.  All are based on Scripture for discussion and reflection.  Every week gives a mini-lesson, a study section, a "who are you Lord & and what do you want from me?", some projects, and a wrap-up.  The group meets to pray and discuss the home...

Wait for It...

I am formulating a wonderful blog post in my mind.  This has been a horrific week for me (in the most boring and perfectly safe way).  I am just wiped out and overwhelmed and hormonal all at the same time.  So please be patient.  Read Psalm 19 and James 5, and think about your eighth year of marriage (if you are there yet), and write down your faults that you hide (if you are a hider like me).

Who Are Your Three?

Uh oh... I am dropping off the face of the blogsphere.  I read a post of mine a few weeks ago about how I hoped that at some point in time there would be a time where there wasn't a lag between posts.  This lag isn't near as bad as the hiatuses I have inadvertently taken before... but that's how it starts.  Anyway, disclaimer done.  This last week we had an emotional and amazing night of Bible study.  I held it in again... only crying a little.  If you know me, you know I am like that.  But, the topic really got me to thinking.  We are doing the Beth Moore David: Seeking a Heart Like His  study, and I am loving it.  (Sadly, I have missed two of the four nights because of travel for work, although I caught up on the videos this weekend.  On a completely shallow note, I love to see what she wears.  I couldn't stop checking out Beth's boots in section 4... still trying to figure who made them...). Okay, back on track again....

A Part of My Testimony

Image
Here is why my blog is called Woman in a Wheelbarrow... this is a part of my testimony .  For some reason, I feel the need to share it again.  If you are visiting my blog for the first, or if you haven't had the patience to dig through the old stuff, I want to make sure that you know this about me.
