Peeing In Style

My last kid is potty-trained.  Well, she's been potty trained for awhile... but we went through this period of time where she was really upset that she couldn't pee outside like her brothers.  I mean, really upset.  Adamant, in fact, that she should, by all rights, have her own penis that would allow her to pee outside, on trees and rocks, wherever, whenever she wanted.  If her brothers got penises, she should have one too.  Her "gina", as she calls it, was not doing a good enough job of letting her pee like her brothers. Once, in the midst of one of her episodes, I finally decided to teach her how to pee outside.... like a girl, squat, spread and pray it doesn't splatter your feet, trickle down your legs or get your pants wet.  She was a little miffed that I made her do all that, but when she was done, she stood up proudly, and said, 'See, I told you I could pee outside!'  I guess it works, but it is not ideal.

Not too long after this incident (which was really awkward and amusing for her brothers), I saw that Tina at For The Love of The Run had a pstyle giveaway.  A what?  That's what I said.  Then I became intrigued and entered.  Then I lost the giveaway, even though I told my most embarrassing peeing my pants while running stories.

But, this story has a happy ending, because I also signed up for the Softcup Challenge, and somewhere along the way, she was awesome enough to send me a pstyle to try.  I chose pink because my daughter is a girly-girl and loves pink.

Now that it is sunny and nicer, we have been spending more time outside, with less opportunity to just run in the house and go to the bathroom.  It took about two or three tries for her (and me) to really get the hang of the pstyle, but now we are hooked.  The pstyle is a staple now.  Almost every time we are outside, Leilee decides she has to pee.  And because we do so much driving, I think I might have to buy one for each car and keep the pink one as our backup.  I have told all of my friends and family about it.  Most of them think I am crazy, but I can tell that behind the eye-rolls, they, too, are intrigued.

I haven't figured out how I would keep it with me on a run... but if you have daughters, it could become a new necessity.  One of those weird things you never think you would need or use until you have one.  I drink extra water before we go on a walk now just so I can have an excuse.  Just kidding.... kind of.

  1. I agree with your daughter - - I think girls are kind of gypped by not being able to pee without it going down our legs.
