Leap Blog Day! A Guest Post by Larissa

Thanks to a great idea from these folks, we have Leap Blog Day!

I was lucky enough to get Larissa from Papa is a Preacher to agree to be my guest blogger.  She astounds me with the depth of insight and wisdom she holds for such a young woman.  Keep an eye on her - she has some serious potential and incredible talents.  It'll be good when she is all famous for me to be able to say that she wrote especially for my blog way back when.

Go! Do! Act! Now!

Every once in a while, I enjoy reading a paragraph or two from an author I usually don't enjoy or agree with. Daddy says it's good, oftentimes necessary, and is part of cultural education. I agree.

It has often happened that these very authors have made me think and become inspired. One of them is Jack London. He once said, *"You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club." Ironically, this very quote inspired me to do things.

Do. I hang my head in shame, but I confess, I'm not much of a doer. I'm more of a planner. I plan, and then I wait. "For the right conditions" I tell myself. I have it figured out, I just have to bide my time.

I generally enjoy having all my chicks hatched before I count them, everything planned and outlined before I act, and all edited and edited before my thoughts are published.

Life, however, favors the doers. The ones who plan a bit or two, and then .. go!

Life has taught me this. We can plan as much as we'd like, but we can't really know for sure what will be. We can't count on tomorrow. We can't see into the future.

We can take risks. We have to.
Not always will we have inspiration, not always will we know if the time is right, not always will everything be certain. But that shouldn't keep us from trying, from going forward.
Go!

Do!

Act!
Now!
Not then, not later, not someday. Now!
There's no time like the present- it's a trite saying for a reason. Today will never come again. If our quest doesn't work, at least we had a great ride. We didn't waste the time. We can begin again later if we have to, but we will never be able to turn back the clock to today.
Opportunities, moments- we create them. We can't wait for them to happen.
One of my favorite quotes is by Jonathan Winters, "If your ship doesn't come in ... Swim out to it." Maybe it'll meet you half way! Maybe it won't. But Go, Do, Act, Now.
Sometimes we have to take risks, hand the results over to God, and do our best with what we have.

Sometimes, we have to remember that, "If you wait to do everything until you're sure it's right, you'll probably never do much of anything." (Win Borden)
Sometimes we have to get the anchors aweigh, hoist the sails, and pray the wind catches up.

See, isn't she amazing?

Just as exciting and way more nerve wracking for me, was my privilege to be a guest blogger for Jewels at Frazzled and Frumpy.  Check out Larissa first, but if you have time, hop on over to Jewels too.  That's what it's all about today.  Hopping!
